Storing and Freezing Instructions

To Store: Dinosaur fluff is best enjoyed within three days. Make sure to cover the glasses in plastic to keep the fridge smells out and keep the fluff moist.

To Freeze: Dinosaur fluff can also be frozen for up to three months. When frozen, it will appear similar to ice cream. There is no need to defrost your dessert. Just scoop and enjoy.

Recipe Variations for Dinosaur Fluff

Chocolate chip cookie dough fluff: Replace the peppermint extract with vanilla extract and chocolate chips with chunks of raw cookie dough. Fold in the cookie dough pieces gently after combining the cream cheese and heavy cream.

Mocha fluff: Substitute the peppermint extract with coffee extract or instant coffee granules dissolved in a teaspoon of hot water. Add in chocolate-covered espresso beans instead of chocolate chips.

Berry fluff: Skip the peppermint extract and use a mix of fresh chopped berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries. Fold the berries into the mixture along with a teaspoon of lemon zest.

Orange cream fluff: Omit peppermint extract and add orange extract or freshly squeezed orange juice for a citrusy twist. Replace chocolate chips with white chocolate chips or orange-flavored chocolate.

Coconut cream fluff: Leave out the peppermint extract and chocolate chips. Fold in toasted coconut flakes and coconut extract. Whip some coconut cream into the fluff instead of the heavy cream.

Peanut butter cup fluff: Replace the peppermint extract with peanut butter and mix in peanut butter chips instead of chocolate chips. For an extra peanut flavor, swirl in another tablespoon of creamy peanut butter.

Caramel swirl fluff: Skip the peppermint extract and chocolate chips. Instead, drizzle caramel sauce into the fluff mixture and gently fold it to create a delightful caramel swirl effect.

Honey almond fluff: Swap the peppermint extract with almond extract and omit chocolate chips. Stir in chopped almonds and drizzle honey over the finished fluff for a sweet and nutty treat.

Lemon meringue fluff: Leave out the peppermint extract and chocolate chips. Add lemon zest and a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the mixture for a zesty flavor. Top with a dollop of whipped cream for a meringue-like finish.

Raspberry cheesecake fluff: Replace the peppermint extract with a splash of raspberry liqueur or raspberry extract. Fold in fresh raspberries or swirl in raspberry jam for a tangy raspberry cheesecake flavor.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp peppermint extract
  • few drops of green food coloring
  • 1/3 cup dark mini chocolate chips

For decoration:

Instructions

  • Beat the heavy cream in a bowl until stiff peaks form.
  • Set aside.
  • Beat the cream cheese with sugar in another bowl until creamy.
  • Add the peppermint extract and few drops of green food coloring and beat to combine.
  • Gently fold in the heavy cream and chocolate chips.
  • Spoon or pipe the fluff into small serving glasses.
  • Decorate with sprinkles and gummy candies and serve.

Notes

  • Mixing tip: Refrigerate the heavy cream to make sure it’s cold before whipping. Cold cream will thicken and form peaks much faster than room-temperature cream.
  • Coloring tip: Start with only one drop of color, mix, and add another until you get the color you want.
  • Decoration tip: For a fun presentation, layer the fluff with sprinkles and gummy candies alternately. Start with a layer of fluff, then sprinkle decorations, and repeat.
  • Serving suggestion: To enhance flavor and texture, chill the fluff in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Storage tip: Leftover fluff can be stored in a resealable container in the refrigerator for up to three days. If it separates, stir gently to combine again before serving.
