Dinosaur Valentine Box

Every Valentine’s Day we make a new box, and this dinosaur Valentine box may be our all-time favorite! Here’s how to make it.

How to Make a Dinosaur Valentine Box

1. Make the head: Cut a V shape into the tissue box. Start the V by cutting a small hole on one side for the scissors to fit through. Draw a circle on the bottom of the box where the body will attach and cut it out to form a hole. 
   
2. Add the body: Tape two rectangle tissue boxes together to form a rectangle. Draw a circle the same size on one end of the rectangle and cut a hole. Align the two circles of the boxes and glue the dinosaur head onto the tissue box body.
   
3. Add the eyes: Wrap the dinosaur head and body with wrapping paper. Fold the two small green cardboard pieces in half. Glue the googly eyes onto one-half of the folded pieces. Then, glue the folded paper pieces with eyes onto the top of the dinosaur head.
   
4. Make the teeth: Cut out the teeth from white cardboard paper. Glue the teeth to the mouth opening.
   
5. Add the tail: Roll wrapping paper into a cone and tape it up. Cut out a zig-zag pattern from a green glitter foam sheet to make the spikes and tail. Glue the spikes and tail to the back.
   
6. Add the arms and legs: Cut out the heart from a red glitter foam sheet and the arms and legs from a green foam sheet. Glue the heart to the arms. Glue the arms and legs to the body.
   
7. Decorate: Decorate the dinosaur box with heart stickers (if using).

Materials

• ▢ green wrapping paper
• ▢ scissors
• ▢ tape
• ▢ 2 rectangle tissue boxes, empty
• ▢ 1 square tissue box, empty
• ▢ googly eyes
• ▢ heart stickers, optional
• ▢ white cardboard paper
• ▢ green cardboard paper
• ▢ foam sheets, green, red gliiter, green glitter

Instructions 

• Cut out hole on one end of the square tissue box.
• Cut out V shape to form lips.
• Tape 2 rectangle tissue boxes as shown on the photo.
• Cut out hole on one end of the rectangle tissue boxes.
• Align the two circles of the boxes together and glue the dinosaur head onto the dinosaur body.
• Wrap the dinosaur with wrapping paper.
• Fold the two small green cardboard pieces in half.
• Glue the googly eyes onto one half of the folded pieces.
• Then glue the eyes onto the top of the dinosaur head.
• Cut out the teeth from white cardboard paper.
• Secure the teeth with glue onto the mouth opening.
• To make tail, roll wrapping paper into a cone and tape it up.
• To make to spikes, cut out zig zag pattern from green glitter foam sheet.
• Glue it to the back.
• Cut out the heart from red glitter foam sheet.
• Cut out arms and legs form green foam sheet.
• Glue the heart to the arms.
• Glue the arms and legs to the body.
• Decorate the dinosaur box with heart stickers (if using).

Notes

• Safety first: When working with scissors, take care not to cut yourself. Children should be supervised at all times. 
• Get creative: Decorate the dinosaur with different colored wrapping paper, stickers, glitter, and sting. 
• It doesn’t need to be perfect: The wrapping paper can be uneven or even torn into pieces and glued on to resemble scales — no need to keep everything perfectly smooth.
